CATCH UP!!!

STAR DATE: 05142009... I AM STILL LIVEING ON THIS PLANET CALLED EARTH. I HAVE BEEN EXPLORING THIS WORLD FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW AND I AM BEGINNING TO FEEL AS THOUGH I AM THE LAST OF MY KIND.... and i think this little fella is the only one who really understands me.

So to catch up... after i worked for APX last summer i went back down to the land of the ANASAZI to live/play/work with my at risk youth friends (who are at risk almost as much as me) out in the wilderness. had a blast! when i got there i had sleepy eyes cause i wasn't used to getting up that early. see:

yup! told ya so. sleepy eyes.

so i worked there through the end of december.. loved it there cause i learned a little more about myself and made some awesome new friends and felt like i was almost helping some people almost making a difference. then we had to sacrifice one of the little fellas so i put some red ocher on my face and also put a real solemn look on my face. it looked like this:

then i said "thanks that was an awesome christmas party" cause we partied in the woods for christmas! but actually wished i was with my family just like the other young walkers once again turning my heart homeward... so i decided to go back to school again so i started going to UVU again Go GREEN! it was fun cause i pretty much just took easy outdoor rec classes like back packing and rock climbing and i was a little surprised when i realized that my photography class was my favorite! the school helped me with my tuition in return for me working with the OAC (outdoor adventure center) leading adventure trips! its called a scholarship. here, let me show you what some of these trips were like..
we would take lots of people like this..

and make them dig snow caves like this..

and make them stay in there all night long!

then it got warmer so we did stuff like this:

climbing around the valley of goblins...
the pic below is a repell called alcatraz..

more goblins

fun group..

this guy was a super pro!

robbers roost.. larry canyon.

this was our spring break trip and it was advertised at the school as " spring break slots gone wild" i know catchy eh? but as a result only guys signed up for the trip.. we had a blast, but we decided that if we wanted any girls on our trips, we needed to give the trip a little more romantic name...

oh dear... this poor fella ripped his pants within the 1st 20 minutes of larry canyon and it wasn't more than an hour and a half into the 8 hour journey before the sandstone made light work of his undaroos....

and this is about how that day ended...

then school ended so i made a couple trips down to st george and zions and have just been playing a lot cause i like to! and the other night i went camping and forgot a lighter but my friend jacquie really wanted to roast her apple... so i made fire like a real man from long ago! i just told this little story cause i thought these pictures were awesome!!

lucky i had some nice chunks of yucca in my car!
little tinder bundle...

took about an hour and a half to make my fire board, spindle, socket, and bow.. and
create an awesome FIRE!!!

well that lmost catches me up... the next BIG thing in my life begins on saturday when I LEAVE TO AFRICA! I will be going to zambia for 2 months to do some humanitarian work with http://www.motherswithoutborders.org/ ! this is actually something i am really proud of cause my friends Jakapo, Lizzi, and I wrote up a youth expedition program called UKWENDA. WE had the idea for a youth expedition program for youth who have completed a wildernes type program like anasazi, after they have had a chance to work on themselves, we will take them to Africa to serve other people. its like a 2 edged sword for these guys really.. underprivlaged people in africa get help, and the youth get one more life changing experience! it beautiful! if you are curious, go to that mothers without borders wewbsite and there will be a link to UKWENDA on the front page!

thats all i have time for right now..... maybe i will do another blog next year
